Chivalry is Not (yet) Dead

I’ve seen a lot of people, been into different cirsumstances wherein I saw, I witnessed na chivalry is still alive. May mga tao pa ring marunong ng courtesy. May mga tao pa ring gentleman. It’s nice to know na kahit papano, di pa rin naman pala nawawala yung ugaling yun sa atin.

Last Friday, I had my share of experience about it. I was walking along Makati Ave. then I asked an “ate (1)” kung san ang Atrium building. She was nice. She gave me a little intruction, kaso nung nakita nyang hesitant ako (di kasi sure si ate kung yun nga yung building na tinutukoy ko), she again gave me another instruction. Luckily, while we were talking, may dumaang another “ate (2).” She heard our conversation and asked me kung san daw ba ako papunta. Fortunately, dun din pala sya papunta so she told me to just go along with her. Thanks to them dahil I was able to go dun sa Atrium safe and sound.

Then another story. Kaninang morning, habang nasakay kung bus, medyo siksikan na. Yung aleng katabi ko, bumaba na. So after nun, the man who happened to be standing, sat beside me. After awhile, she saw the woman in front of him. You know what he did? He offered his seat instead. Oh diba? Bongga si kuya! Bravo.

I have seen a lot of cases na nakakatuwang makita. It makes you proud of those people. Pano naman kas, sadyang karamihan ngayon, wala na yung chivalry sa kanila. I remember one time, sa mall, habang naglalakad ako, binangga ako ng mama. Sad to say, di man lang nagsorry.

Those simple gestures matter. Kahit simpleng pa-sorry at pa-thank you. Yung simpleng pauunahin mo ang babae. Yung mga bagay na yun, it matters a lot. Thank goodness nalang dahil may piling individuals pa naman na merong magandang kalooban.

By the way, sa kasadsagan ng lahat ng unos na dumating sa bansa natin, I must say, naglabasan lahat ng may magagandang kalooban. That made me even more believe that chivalry isn’t dead.
